Zach Marcellino

Therapy Intern II

Zach is a Master of Social Work intern at the University of Utah and has four years of experience working in the mental health field. He has provided mental health support to children, teens, and their families, while also working with adults navigating a variety of life challenges and transitions. Zach has a passion for helping individuals and families better understand the challenges they are facing, build on their strengths, and develop healthy ways of coping and adapting.

Zach takes an empathetic, collaborative, and strengths-based approach to therapy. He works with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, self-esteem concerns, relationship and family conflict, and other life challenges. Zach understands that beginning therapy can feel intimidating, and he strives to create a warm, welcoming space where clients feel comfortable being honest, vulnerable, and themselves without fear of judgment. He believes that therapy is a collaborative process and that meaningful change begins with feeling heard and understood. His approach draws from several therapeutic modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, Systems Theory, and the Gottman Method.

Zach provides therapy in both English and Spanish and is passionate about helping individuals and families navigate difficult seasons of life while finding greater peace, healing, and confidence for the future.

In his free time, Zach likes to be outside, exercise, read, watch movies, and hang out with his wife and family.
