Susan Wilcox
Susan is a Clinical Mental Health Counseling Intern dedicated to creating a compassionate, nonjudgmental space where clients feel safe to explore their experiences, discover their strengths, and move toward healing. She believes that meaningful growth begins with feeling seen, heard, and accepted, and she strives to build a collaborative therapeutic relationship grounded in trust and respect.
Susan takes a holistic approach to mental wellness, recognizing that emotional, physical, relational, and environmental factors all influence mental health. She draws from evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills, and Narrative Therapy.
Having lived with chronic illness herself, Susan brings both professional knowledge and personal understanding to her work. She understands the emotional, physical, and relational challenges that can accompany ongoing health conditions and is passionate about helping clients navigate these experiences with resilience and self-compassion.
Susan specializes in working with individuals experiencing chronic illness, depression, anxiety, grief, ADHD, and women's issues. Her goal is to empower clients to build on their strengths, develop practical coping skills, and create lives that align with their values while fostering hope, resilience, and lasting well-being.
"You aren't lost, you're just in an uncomfortable stage of your life where your old self is gone but your new self isn't fully born yet. You're in the midst of transformation." — Marcos Alvarad
